My external beam radiation treatment was completed on July 26th and Mary Ann and I have made our way back home to Black Forest, Colorado.
I seem to be getting better every day. The side-effects of the radiation have mostly diminished and I am 95% back to normal.
My numbers look very good, but I will be under the effects of the hormone therapy until Spring. After that we will be watching the PSA and Testosterone numbers closely. For now it is a waiting game.
I did get a bill for the PET scan that I had before we went to Houston. That scan was to determine whether the cancer had escaped into the rest of my body and it came back clean. But the scan itself cost $16,000 and insurance didn’t cover it all… for some reason. So if you were thinking about pitching in to my GoFundMe, then we’d sure appreciate it.
If you are a man, get your PSA tested regularly! It’s cheap (a lot cheaper than a PET scan!) and just might save your life.
